Put some spring in your step with warm-weather decor
If you're a home-decorating enthusiast like me, you're excited to change the house over from winter to summer style.
I’ve hunted down a few simple decorating tips that can help take your house from winter blah to spring and summer fab.
Sophisticated surfaces
Stone and marble (everything from cheese boards to shower stalls) rises in popularity, expect more dramatic looks such as exaggerated veining and exotic colours to add impact to flooring, furnishings and countertop surfaces.
Tradition cooler white-and-grey veining, can be replaced with warmer stone colours that help bring in beiges, caramels and oranges for a cosier look and feel.
The retro-inspired design style, which I love, features clean lines, gentle curves and an overall lighter look (nothing bulky or too heavy), with long legs and organic forms.
Luxurious bedding
One of the first things I do to change the house over from winter to spring is to put away the flannel and heavy cotton bedding and bring out a lighter cooler set of sheets.
Use the white sheets in the guest room this summer, and go for soft neutral colours. Try sage - a neutral green goes with many colour combos, while adding a hint of fresh spring colour.
Monochromatic is huge. You can do different patterns in the same colours.
